Patriots Policies & Procedures:

_
Coaches
will be appointed by the HCYP Patriots Travel Softball Commissioner
· Coaches serve a term of 1-year and may be reappointed the following season
· Coaches will adhere to the HCYP Patriots Coach expectations
· All players will be expected to attend tryouts for each season
· Players will be selected by the coaches for each team. Coaches in each age group may make selections in succession – A team, then B team, then C team.
· Coaches are not required to hold spots until player has competed at other tryouts but should allow families at least 24 hours in which to make their decision about accepting an offered position on a team
· Upon selection, parents agree to pay a $200 non-refundable player registration fee to guarantee their roster spot. If the player leaves the team at any time during the season – all fees paid or funds raised are forfeited.
· Roster size will be determined by the coaches and league commissioner (no team roster shall exceed 14 players without prior written approval by the Travel and League Commissioners)”
· It is recommended that each player on a Patriots roster play a minimum of 25% of the total innings that the player is present for. If player attendance becomes problematic, coach should address the issue with the league commissioner. Player attendance, effort & attitude are all factors that will affect playing time. In tournaments, each player will start at least one game during pool play as long as practice attendance warrants it – missed practices will result in decreased playing time and may affect starting.
· It is recommended that coaches keep attendance records for both practices and games so as to ensure the minimum playing time is met and to show player commitment should there be a question.
· Lineups for games should be available to the commissioner if there is a question of player participation.
· In addition to the player registration fees, each team will be required to raise funds as each team is expected to fully fund their season.
· Families may be “charged” with an equal amount to cover all costs, sponsors may be sought or a fundraiser may be used to raise funds.
· All coaches, players & parents will refrain from the use of profanity at all times and will represent HCYP Softball in a positive light at practices, games and tournaments.
